Dr. María Cristina Fernández was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She is a sociologist graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), where she also obtained a postgraduate degree as a specialist in Administrative Sciences, focusing on Administrative Planning. Subsequently, she completed a Doctorate in Business Economics at the University of Almería, Spain.
In her professional career, Dr. Fernández worked for more than fifteen years in a group of companies in the chemical sector, holding various positions in the administrative area.
In the academic and research field, she has taught courses related to Strategic Planning, Human Resource Management, Business Planning, Managerial Communication, Organizational Behavior, and Educational Didactics at institutions such as the Central University of Venezuela, Universidad Metropolitana, Keiser University (Florida and Nicaragua), Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, and the University of La Rioja, both in Spain.
Her academic output includes the publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals and books on topics such as the capital structure of SMEs, research methodology in administrative sciences, and managerial communication. Recently, she contributed a chapter on transformational leadership through the human development of leaders in the work “Leadership and Organizational Sustainability: A Knowledge Management Approach,” published by Routledge T&F in 2023.
