Beatriz Morazán graduated with full honors, and was bestowed the Presidential Award. Read below an excerpt of Beatriz Morazán’s inspirational speech during the 2018 Commencement Ceremony in Managua:
“Think about your memories (when you were a student) and the impact that these years in the University had on you. Through this experience, you were able to meet remarkable and memorable friends; professors who inspired you to keep going; events that made each semester something different; households, clubs, among other things. Perhaps your only goal was to study your undergraduate degree, but you found all these things in the way. That is why I believe we studied in the best university. Above all, we learned to serve others: in classes, we saw our professors giving their best for us to understand; in our families, we saw our parents’ sacrifice to give us the best education; in the clubs, sports and households, we gathered and served the common good; and even in the work-study program, we served the people around us. To serve others is to love them, and that is what the world needs. Today, we are living in a difficult situation, especially in Nicaragua. That is why we need to stand together and to be open to our brothers and sisters. By working together, we can achieve the peace and justice that we need for our generation and the ones to come. You can be good at something, but if you do not offer your effort, your love, your service, your whole self into it, it will be more challenging to reach the final goal”
