Verde Te Quiero Verde

Verde Te Quiero Verde is a student-driven environmental movement at Keiser University – Latin American Campus. We are a community of young people passionate about sustainability, environmental education, and collective action, aligned with Axis 6: Environment and Nature of the National Education Strategy.

We are guided by the belief that every action matters, and that from within the university we can create a positive impact on our community and the planet. With enthusiasm and dedication, our team works to raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff about the importance of caring for Mother Earth, while fostering sustainable habits, environmental innovation, and collaboration.

For us, education and environmental practice go hand in hand. That is why we combine theory with hands-on initiatives that benefit the environment and strengthen the university’s commitment to social responsibility. Through our activities, we seek to create spaces where everyone can participate, learn, and become agents of change—cultivating a shared sense of belonging and responsibility toward both nature and the community.

Our vision is to be a university that inspires environmental leadership through innovative and sustainable initiatives, contributing to the conservation of natural resources, environmental education, and the building of more responsible and resilient communities.

We aspire to promote creativity, commitment, and collaboration in every project we carry out, showing that meaningful change is possible when knowledge and action come together.

We also hope to encourage other universities and organizations to join in similar efforts, demonstrating that change begins with youth and that every collective action can make a real difference in caring for the environment and shaping environmentally conscious citizens.

Projects Completed

Over the years, we have carried out initiatives that reflect our commitment to the environment and to our university community. Each project is both a learning opportunity and a way to take tangible action for the planet:

  • Hydroponic gardens: promoting sustainable food production and hands-on learning experiences on campus.
  • Green spaces for life: creating and caring for areas that foster biodiversity and encourage connection with nature.
  • Tree planting drives (“Plantatones”): collective reforestation efforts to restore and protect natural spaces.
  • More than 35 fruit trees planted: contributing to food security while enriching the campus ecosystem.
  • Tree adoption program: giving students the chance to care for a tree as a personal symbol of environmental responsibility.
  • Psycho-environmental brigades: linking emotional well-being with the practice of caring for nature.
  • Mother Earth workshops: sharing sustainable habits and practices for everyday life.
  • Recycling campaigns: promoting proper waste management and a culture of reuse across campus.
  • Environmental awareness weeks: engaging the entire community with talks, activities, and interactive experiences focused on environmental education.

Each of these projects not only benefits our environment but also strengthens our sense of community, reminding us that small actions, when multiplied, create lasting change.
