Dr. Arias was Vice Dean of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty at the National University of Engineering (UNI). In 1999, he joined the Department of Telecommunications and Digital Systems at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (UNI). Dr. Arias has more than 20 years of experience in signal processing and wireless communications projects, both in academia and industry. His professional background includes consulting for various national public and private organizations in the information technology and communications sector, as well as international organizations such as the ILO/United Nations and UNDP/United Nations on similar projects. Since 2009, he has been a full professor and academic coordinator of the ICT Management Master Program at the ICT Research Program of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (FEC) at UNI. His research topics include radio propagation, modeling and simulation of channels for mobile radio systems, and digital signal processing techniques with applications in telemedicine. He is also active in research on MIMO systems and intelligent antennas. Dr. Arias has authored or co-authored more than 25 scientific and conference papers and has reviewed papers for the IEEE AWPL journal. He is also a member of LACCIR (Latin American and Caribbean Collaborative ICT Research Federation).
