Dr. Salazar is a Nicaraguan economist with specialized knowledge and experience in Central American integration. His doctoral research focuses on exploring the macroeconomic impacts of the Customs Union in Central America. He has worked in the Nicaraguan academic sector since mid-2017, serving as an Economics professor at Central American University (UCA) and the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN). He was also the head of the Research and Analysis Department at the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA) in Guatemala City. Additionally, he was a visiting professor in the Master’s program in Central American Integration and Development (MICAD) at Rafael Landívar University (URL) in Guatemala. Currently, he serves as a professor at Keiser University in Nicaragua. Dr. Salazar has worked as a consultant for multilateral organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat (SITCA), the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA), and the Regional Center for the Promotion of MSEs (CENPROMYPE), being recognized as an expert in Central American economic dynamics and a skilled econometrician.
